Banner and Text Links
Most web rings use traditional banner ads and text links to create the circular chain of links which tie all the websites in the ring together.
Sometimes an additional link is provided which allows surfers to break out of the chain and go directly to any of the websites in the ring. This is the model used by the web ring we belong to.
The links for the ring this site belongs to have a variety of sites offering various Internet services. We have the ring links at the bottom of each page, although the ring bylaws only require it at the bottom of our homepage. Rather than a menu bringing up splash pages, many rings would link directly to the sites if they were using this model.
Any size or shape of banner can be used for the ring link. I once saw a ring which used a small square box(about 125x125) for the ring link, located near the top left corner of each homepage. The graphic on the link made it look like some kind of award, but really it was just a ring link.
